Fiji Immigration Orders 100,000 Passports to Ease Delays
FIJI NEWS

The Ministry of Immigration has ordered 100,000 passports, expected to arrive in two batches between May and June, to address ongoing shortages.
Minister Viliame Naupoto acknowledged the delay, stating that the order should have been placed earlier.
Fijians have expressed frustration over prolonged passport processing times, fully booked online appointment slots, and limited issuance for urgent cases.
Since February, passport applications have been restricted to medical, employment, education, and official travel needs.
Some applicants reported extended delays, missing documents, and unclear collection timelines. Others were forced to cancel travel plans due to unprocessed applications.
Meanwhile, concerns have also been raised about delays in processing permits for foreign investors.
Authorities assure that once the new passport stock arrives, normal services will resume.
