The Fiji Labour Party (FLP) has issued a strong statement criticizing Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka over allegations that he received a $150,000 gold Rolex watch from a local businessman.

The FLP called Rabuka’s response—where he stated, “I have the right to remain silent”—an insult to struggling Fijians, accusing him of avoiding accountability despite previously promising an open and transparent government.

“The burden of proof may lie with the accusers, but the burden of trust lies with you, Prime Minister,” the statement read, demanding answers about the origins of the expensive watch.

The FLP further accused the government of failing to deliver on its promises over the past two years, instead being embroiled in “broken promises, self-indulgence, indiscipline, scams, and scandals.”

The party called on Rabuka to clarify the source of the Rolex and what, if anything, was given in return, warning that continued silence would only damage his credibility and legacy.
