Fiji is among 14 Pacific Island nations convening in Rarotonga this week for the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Pacific Constituency Meeting.

The forum aims to strengthen oversight, coordination, and accountability of GEF-funded environmental projects across the region.

The weeklong gathering focuses on enhancing the capacity of national focal points to design, implement, and monitor sustainable development initiatives.

It also provides a platform for Pacific countries to share experiences and address common environmental challenges.

Fiji’s delegation is led by the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Hon. Mosese Bulitavu, who emphasized the importance of robust national systems to track project performance and ensure transparency in the use of international funds.

This meeting represents a critical step in aligning regional efforts to deliver tangible, long-term environmental outcomes for Pacific communities.
