Fiji Police and FWCC Strengthen Partnership to Combat Violence Against Women
FIJI NEWS

Fiji Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu and Fiji Women's Crisis Centre (FWCC) Coordinator Shamima Ali met yesterday to reaffirm their commitment to enhancing collaboration in tackling violence against women and girls.
Commissioner Tudravu acknowledged the longstanding partnership between the two organisations and valued FWCC’s role as an external auditor in assessing police responses to gender-based violence.
He emphasised the importance of training and information sharing to ensure police officers follow best practices when handling such cases.
Ms. Ali welcomed the Police Commissioner’s visit and reiterated FWCC’s commitment to delivering specialised training for police officers, from new recruits to senior management.
She stressed the need to standardise responses across the Fiji Police Force to ensure survivors receive appropriate support.
A recent workshop in Sigatoka focused on educating officers about survivor-centred approaches and referral pathways for victims of violence.
