Fiji Police Force Expect Arrest Soon on Labasa Assault Video
FIJI NEWS

Arrests are expected soon in relation to a violent assault in Labasa that went viral on social media, says Acting Commissioner of Police Aporosa Lutunauga.
Mr Lutunauga confirmed he has ordered an immediate investigation into the incident.
“I have directed our team in Labasa to investigate and get in everyone involved. A dispute over an issue does not give anyone the right to physically assault any person,” he said.
He said all individuals captured in the video will be brought in for questioning, and arrests are anticipated shortly.
Mr Lutunauga described the footage as a “sad reality” of a community turning to violence instead of resolving issues peacefully.
“The video evidence is already there and the victim’s medical has been done. We will start charging people soon.”
Police say the investigation is ongoing.
