Fiji Police Officers Make History as Trainers in Regional Safety Programme
FIJI NEWS

Marking a significant milestone for the Fiji Police Force, Sergeants Jock Luita and Laitia Nahalo have been deployed as trainers under the New Zealand Police-supported Officer Safety Pacific (OSP) Programme, contributing to the Pacific Police Support Group (PPSG) training.
The PPSG is a regional initiative under the Australian Federal Police (AFP)-backed Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI).
It comprises a pool of trained Pacific police personnel who, alongside the AFP, are prepared to deploy across the region in support of major events or during times of crisis.
Sergeants Nahalo and Luita were selected for deployment due to their consistent demonstration of expertise as certified OSP trainers.
Their training focuses on equipping officers with tactical options to manage challenging situations professionally and safely.
From 3rd to 13th June 2025, the two Fijian officers played a key role in delivering the Defensive Tactics component of the training for PPSG cohorts, working alongside regional colleagues to build capacity and resilience within Pacific policing.
Fiji remains committed to supporting collective regional efforts aimed at strengthening law enforcement capabilities across the Pacific.
