Fiji Police Probe Viral Hate Speech Video
FIJI NEWS

Fiji Police are investigating a viral social media video that allegedly incites violence and promotes hate speech against certain groups.
The Criminal Investigation Department launched the investigation following instructions from Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu. The video is believed to have been shared by an individual residing overseas.
Commissioner Tudravu has urged social media users to exercise their freedom of speech with responsibility, warning that online abuse, cyberbullying, and hate speech are on the rise and creating division within communities.
“The extent to which some are engaging in cyberbullying, harassment, and spreading hate speech is getting out of hand,” he said. “It is worrying to see social media being used in this manner.”
He added that the Fiji Police Force is working closely with the Online Safety Commission to ensure social platforms are used in a safe, constructive, and respectful way.
