Fiji Police Responds to Domestic Violence Case Allegations
FIJI NEWS

The Fiji Police Force has denied claims made by Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre Coordinator, Ms. Shamima Ali, about the handling of a domestic violence case in Nadi.
Ms. Ali alleged that police released a suspect early and advised the victim to live in the same house as her abuser.
Acting Police Commissioner Juki Fong Chew said these claims were false and aimed at discrediting the police.
He explained that the suspect was arrested, charged, and brought to court, where the Magistrate granted bail based on the victim’s statement of reconciliation and assurance of safety.
Mr. Chew emphasized that the "No Drop Policy" for domestic violence cases remains strictly enforced, and any breach by officers is dealt with through disciplinary action.
He urged NGOs and the public to report concerns directly to police for immediate action
