This morning, the Fiji Police Force Southern Division responded to an urgent request from the Blood Services Unit at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) in Suva.
The Assistant Manager of the unit informed the police that they were in critical need of blood donations.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Wate Vocevoce, the Divisional Police Commander Southern, approved the request and arranged for the Blood Mobile Bank Bus to park in front of Nabua Police Station.
"I encouraged our officers to support this important cause. It’s a simple way to help save lives," said SSP Wate.
Within just two hours, the drive collected nine pints of blood. After lunch, the mobile Blood Bank Bus will move to Valelevu Police Station to continue the drive.
SSP Wate emphasized that policing is about serving the community in many ways, not just fighting crime.
“We are here to help in any way we can,” he said.
