Fiji Police Strengthen Regional Cooperation Through Major Palau Deployment

The Fiji Police Force has joined law enforcement partners from across the Pacific in the largest Pacific Police Support Group (PPSG) deployment to Palau, supporting security operations during the recent Pacific Islands Forum Leaders Meeting.

Fijian police officers were among regional personnel deployed to assist Palau with security arrangements for the high-level regional gathering.

The Fiji Police Force has supported the PPSG since its inception, contributing officers to the initiative both for specialised training and as trainers to strengthen policing capabilities across the Pacific.

The PPSG is part of the Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI), which is supported by the Australian Federal Police (AFP).

The initiative aims to strengthen law enforcement cooperation and capabilities across Pacific nations while supporting regional responses to shared security challenges.

Deployments such as the one in Palau provide additional policing support to host countries during major national and regional events, while also giving Pacific law enforcement agencies opportunities to work together and strengthen operational coordination.

The Fiji Police Force acknowledged the Australian Federal Police for its continued support and for providing opportunities to strengthen regional policing partnerships.

The Force said such cooperation contributes to the broader goal of creating a safer and more secure Blue Pacific for communities across the region.
