The Fiji Police Force has acknowledged the Australian Federal Police (AFP) for its continued support in strengthening policing capacity across the Pacific.

In a statement, the Force said it has benefited from various Pacific Policing Initiative (PPI) programmes since the establishment of the AFP-supported Pinkenba training hub in Brisbane.

Inspector Senimili Moli Karanavatu, Sergeant Jone Delana and Corporal Eremasi Radrodro are part of the latest Pacific cohort currently undertaking the Pacific Police Support Group (PPSG) training programme over a six-month period.

The officers recently briefed Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu on the outcomes of their training.

Inspector Karanavatu acknowledged the Commissioner’s support in facilitating their participation, as well as the strong partnership with the AFP.

Mr Tudravu welcomed the officers back and said he had received positive feedback about their performance during his visit to Pinkenba in February.

He added that the Force will continue to support the inclusion of female officers in overseas training opportunities and is working to integrate aspects of such training into the Fiji Police Academy.

The PPSG is a multinational policing capability under the Pacific Policing Initiative, involving highly trained officers from across the region, including the AFP. It provides assistance to Pacific Island countries during major events, natural disasters and other emergencies.

The Fiji Police Force said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to strengthening regional security and cooperation under the “Our Blue Pacific” vision.
