Fiji Police Warn Public After Officers Assaulted in Labasa
FIJI NEWS

The Fiji Police are warning that assaults on officers will not be tolerated, following an incident in Labasa last Friday where a man allegedly attacked two officers during an alcohol-related disturbance.
The 35-year-old farmer from Dogotuki has been charged with one count of drunk and disorderly behavior, three counts of serious assault, and two counts of damaging property.
He appeared in the Labasa Magistrates Court and has been remanded in custody while awaiting a bail hearing.
Police Commissioner Rusiate Tudravu said such attacks will be met with the full force of the law.
“To hinder a police officer from doing their job is an offence,” Tudravu said. “We will come down hard on anyone who assaults our officers or obstructs them in the line of duty.”
The officers had been attempting to defuse a situation when they were allegedly assaulted.
Tudravu is urging the public to cooperate with police and allow officers to carry out their duties without interference.
