FIJI POLICE WELCOMES NAURU OFFICERS UNDER REGIONAL COOPERATION PROGRAM
FIJI NEWS

As part of the Fiji Police Force’s ongoing commitment to strengthening regional policing partnerships, three officers from the Nauru Police Force were officially welcomed this morning at the Fiji Police Headquarters ahead of a two-week attachment program.
The attachment, supported by the UNDP Pacific Office in Fiji through the Nauru Accountable and Inclusive Governance Project, is aligned with broader regional efforts to empower law enforcement under the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police (PICP) and the Pacific Community for Law Enforcement Cooperation (PCLEC).
The three visiting officers—Sergeant Christopher Dowiyogo, Sergeant Brando Tabaia, and Constable Anthony Dabwadauw—will be attached to key divisions within the Fiji Police Force, including the Fiji Police Academy, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), and Community Policing.
Welcoming the officers, senior representatives of the Fiji Police highlighted the longstanding relationship between the two forces, emphasizing Fiji’s role in providing training, technical assistance, and capacity-building support to Nauru over the years.
“Our police-to-police cooperation with Nauru reflects the spirit of our shared commitment to a safer and more resilient Blue Pacific. We are proud to support our regional colleagues in their professional development,” a Police spokesperson said.
Notable milestones in the bilateral cooperation include the secondment of a Fijian Police officer to assist with the establishment of the Nauru Police Band, and the inclusion of Nauru Police officers in Fiji’s Basic Recruits Course Training. In the past, Fiji Police has also facilitated attachments for Nauruan officers whose spouses were studying in Fiji.
This latest attachment reinforces the vision of regional solidarity and professional collaboration in policing across the Pacific.
