The Fiji Police Force has concluded its Senior Officers Seminar at the Novotel Hotel in Lami, highlighting progress made under the Australian Federal Police-supported FPF Uplift Program and associated initiatives.

The one-day seminar also provided a platform to discuss the proposed Fiji Police Force Strategic Plan for 2025–2029.

While opening the event, Minister for Policing Hon. Ioane Naivalurua reminded officers of their critical role in shaping Fiji’s security future.

“We live in a time of extraordinary change,” said Mr. Naivalurua. “From cyber threats—including new AI-generated and transnational crimes—to community safety, climate-driven security risks, and technological disruptions, our nation faces a dynamic and evolving landscape.”

He emphasized that traditional policing methods alone are no longer sufficient, noting that the public expects more and that the Police Force must lead transformative change.

“This retreat comes at a defining moment in our nation’s journey—a time when your role, your leadership, and your credibility are being put to the test. In such a landscape, law enforcement is not just a job—it is a national pillar,” he said.

Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu thanked participants for their attendance, underscoring the importance of collective responsibility.

“Nobody can come from outside to take this organisation forward. We are here as a team to do that, and the Uplift will assist us in moving the organisation ahead,” he said, urging all officers to align with the Minister’s vision.

Presentations were also delivered by the Permanent Secretary for Policing, Mr. Beranado Kolinio Daveta, and the Principal Project Officer for the Police Act Review Team, Mr. Biu Matavou.
