The Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) is calling on the public to help protect public infrastructure following a concerning rise in vandalism cases — including the defacing of road signs, graffiti on bus stops, and the posting of unauthorized advertisements on bus shelters.

FRA noted that bus shelters are constructed to offer safe and convenient spaces for commuters and transport operators, particularly during adverse weather.

However, many of these shelters have been vandalized, undermining their purpose and placing added pressure on maintenance resources.

Road signs, critical for maintaining safe and efficient traffic flow, have also been targeted. When damaged or removed, these signs compromise the safety of all road users.

The Authority continues to receive frequent reports of such incidents, which not only endanger the public but also result in substantial repair costs.

The FRA is urging all members of the public to take pride in shared infrastructure, report any acts of vandalism to the relevant authorities, and act responsibly in safeguarding national assets.
