FIJI SECURES ADDITIONAL $72 MILLION IN BUDGET SUPPORT FROM AUSTRALIA

Fiji and Australia have strengthened their partnership with the signing of an amendment to the Direct Funding Arrangement, securing an additional AUD $50 million (FJD $72 million) in budget support for Fiji’s 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 budgets.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Hon. Biman Prasad and the High Commissioner of Australia to Fiji, HE Mr. Ewen McDonald, participated in the signing that was held today (7.03.25).
DPM Prasad thanked the Australian Government for its continued support, highlighting that Australia has provided over $580 million in development funding to Fiji over the past six years.
"This funding will help us implement key economic and public finance reforms to drive inclusive growth and strengthen our resilience," DPM Prasad said.
The agreement reaffirms Australia’s confidence in Fiji’s reform agenda and commitment to sustainable development.
