Fijiana 7s Ready for World Stage Debut

The spotlight is on the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team as they prepare for the 2024/2025 HSBC SVNS Series kickoff in Dubai.

Interim coach Timoci Volavola is determined to expose his players to the global arena, believing this is a crucial step toward building a strong and competitive team.

Volavola emphasizes the importance of raising their game to meet international standards but is also keeping expectations realistic.

“I just want them to go out, enjoy themselves, showcase their God-given talent, and prove what they can offer on the world stage,” he says.

The Fijiana 7s are set to face Ireland in their opening pool match at 5:44pm tomorrow.

They will then challenge Australia at 9:05pm before rounding off their pool games against China at 1:13am on Sunday.

Key playoff matches for the women’s division include the cup quarterfinals at 5:20pm on Sunday, the semifinals at 9:12pm, and the cup final at 3:35am on Monday.

On the men’s side, the Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s will also take to the field, starting against Spain at 6:06 p.m. tomorrow.

They will then clash with the USA at 9:52pm before wrapping up pool play against New Zealand at 3:16am on Sunday.

The men’s cup quarterfinals kick off at 6:48pm on Sunday, followed by the semifinals at 10:06pm, with the cup final scheduled for 4:11am on Monday.

Both teams are set to showcase Fiji’s renowned rugby flair, aiming to make an impact as they step onto the world stage.
