Fijians Urged to Store Water Ahead of Planned Shutdown in Suva-Nasinu Corridor
FIJI NEWS

Residents along the Suva-Nasinu corridor are being advised to store water as the Water Authority of Fiji (WAF) announces a planned water shutdown this weekend. The scheduled works will commence on Friday and extend through Sunday, leading to temporary disruptions in water supply.
WAF officials have stated that ongoing assessments at the worksite have identified additional risks that must be addressed to ensure the safety of workers. Failure to mitigate these risks could further delay the necessary maintenance work.
To prepare for the upcoming shutdown, residents are encouraged to stockpile sufficient water to sustain their households throughout the duration of the disruption.
The planned works are crucial for connecting the new DN900mm Gravity Main from the Waitolu Reservoir to the existing DN600mm DICL Rising Main, which feeds into the Wainibuku Reservoir.
The areas set to be affected include those supplied by the Wainibuku Reservoir, as well as the Tovata, Nagatugatu, Tacirua, Dokanaisuva, Coloisuva, Kalabu, Nasinu, and Flagstaff Reservoirs.
Residents are urged to take these precautionary measures seriously to minimize any inconvenience during the water supply interruption.
