Fiji's ASP Reshmi Singh To Lead UN Peacekeeping Mission In Abyei
FIJI NEWS

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Reshmi Singh will soon depart Fiji to lead the country’s police contingent in the United Nations Interim Security Force in Abyei (UNISFA), marking a significant milestone for women in policing and peacekeeping.
Originally from Macuata in the Northern Division, ASP Singh leaves on 15 June 2025 for what will be her fifth UN deployment. With 32 years of service, she brings extensive experience and has been granted a field promotion to Superintendent of Police. She will serve as Contingent Commander for the FPF UNISFA team.
Her appointment is historic, as both Fijian UN police missions—UNISFA and UNMISS—will now be headed by women. SSP Aseri Nakibo currently leads Fiji’s contingent in South Sudan.
ASP Singh’s peacekeeping experience includes missions in Kosovo, East Timor, Liberia, and South Sudan. She has served in various training and leadership roles with the UN.
Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu farewelled ASP Singh on Thursday, 12 June, wishing her well on her latest assignment. Fiji now has 25 police officers deployed to UNMISS and UNISFA, including 11 women.
Her deployment reflects Fiji’s commitment to gender equality in peacekeeping under the WPS agenda and the Elsie Initiative.
