Fiji’s Corruption Rating Unchanged
FIJI NEWS

Fiji’s corruption rating has remained unchanged in the latest Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI), with the country recording a score of 55, according to the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC).
In a statement, FICAC noted that the CPI is a perceptions-based index compiled from multiple independent data sources and reflects views about the risk of corruption in the public sector. The Commission emphasized that the index does not amount to a finding of corruption and does not measure the outcome or effectiveness of specific investigations or enforcement actions.
FICAC said the result should be viewed as a broad indicator that reinforces the continued importance of strong integrity systems, effective corruption prevention measures, and maintaining public confidence in accountability frameworks.
The Commission highlighted that during the current quarter it has continued strengthening corruption prevention efforts through targeted integrity and governance engagement with public sector agencies. These engagements focus on practical risk areas such as conflicts of interest, procurement integrity, and safeguards in official decision-making.
It also reported ongoing public awareness and outreach initiatives aimed at improving understanding of corruption risks, reporting obligations, and the role of oversight institutions in protecting public resources.
According to FICAC, these initiatives form part of its statutory mandate to prevent, deter, and address corruption through enforcement, education, and system-strengthening measures.
The Commission is encouraging members of the public to report suspected corruption or misconduct through its authorised reporting channels, including the toll-free line 1322 or by email. It said all reports are handled in accordance with the law.
