Fiji's Deputy Prime Minister Participates in ICAO Symposium

The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, Honourable Viliame Gavoka, is attending the 4th International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Global Implementation Support Symposium (GISS 2025) in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The event, held from February 10-12, 2025, focuses on enhancing the safety, security, and sustainability of civil aviation under the theme "The Next Flight: Innovating for a Sustainable Tomorrow."

On the first day, DPM Gavoka participated in panel discussions about aviation's role in advancing Fiji's economic and societal goals and the importance of collaboration with ICAO.

He emphasized the need for a safe, secure, and sustainable aviation framework to boost confidence in air travel, contributing to social and economic stability.

Gavoka also highlighted Fiji's progress in aviation safety oversight, recognized by ICAO in 2022 with the ICAO Council President Certificate.
