The Fiji National University Law Students Association (FNULSA) proudly participated in the commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, an event organised by Dialogue Fiji and the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.

Held in Suva, the event brought together key stakeholders to engage in critical discussions on promoting racial equality and fostering inclusivity in Fiji.

FNULSA President Arnold Chanel emphasised the responsibility of future legal practitioners in combating discrimination and upholding justice.

“Racial discrimination has no place in our society. As law students and future lawyers, it is our duty to advocate for equality, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that every Fijian is treated with dignity and fairness,” said Chanel.

“This event provides a valuable platform to engage with experts, community leaders, and policymakers in addressing systemic discrimination and promoting unity.”

FNULSA Treasurer Timoci Mocebalavu echoed these sentiments, stressing the significance of student engagement in human rights advocacy.

“Our participation in this event reinforces FNULSA’s commitment to justice and equality,” Mocebalavu stated.

The event was hosted by Dialogue Fiji and the Fiji Human Rights and Anti-Discrimination Commission.

FNULSA remains dedicated to promoting legal education, social justice, and active participation in national discussions that impact the legal and human rights landscape of Fiji.
