Four people have been arrested following two separate drug raids conducted by the Joint Task Force in Lautoka on Monday.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe said the raids were carried out in Tavakubu and Vio Road as part of ongoing efforts to target the alleged possession and distribution of illicit drugs.

In Tavakubu, an 18-year-old student and a 24-year-old man were arrested after they were allegedly found in possession of white substances believed to be methamphetamine.

Both suspects were taken into custody, while the seized substances have been sent for analysis.

In a separate raid at Vio Road, a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested after Police allegedly discovered several plastic packets containing white substances believed to be illicit drugs.

Police also seized cash in both local and foreign currencies, which is believed to be proceeds of crime.

ACP Vusonilawe said the successful raids carried out by the Joint Task Force and routine operations teams were the result of intelligence sharing and information received from members of the public.

The Fiji Police Force is urging members of the public to continue reporting suspected drug-related activities through its toll-free number, 1681.
