Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) seized a sex toy from an arriving passenger at Nadi International Airport drawing attention online and raising awareness about Fiji’s strict border laws.

Documents circulating online, reportedly from the Nadi baggage hall, show customs officers listing “01 x sex toy” as a “prohibited item” following an inspection of passenger luggage.

Under Fiji’s Customs Act 1986, customs officers have broad powers to inspect baggage and seize goods considered prohibited under Fijian law. Section 129 of the Act deals with the seizure and detention of goods believed to be imported contrary to customs laws.

The incident serves as a reminder for tourists and returning residents that items considered legal or commonly sold overseas may still face restrictions when entering Fiji.

Travellers are encouraged to familiarise themselves with Fiji’s customs laws before travelling, as prohibited items can be detained or confiscated at the border.
