Fuel and LPG Prices Adjusted for July, FCCC Confirms
FIJI NEWS

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has confirmed new regulated prices for fuel and LPG products, which came into effect on Tuesday, 1 July 2025.
In a statement, the Commission said the adjustments follow the standard one-month lag in the pricing formula, meaning the changes are based on refined fuel and LPG imports made in May 2025.
FCCC’s analysis shows that kerosene and diesel prices have decreased, while motor spirit and premix prices remain unchanged.
The changes are a result of fluctuations in international refined fuel prices, global freight rates, and the weakening of the US dollar against the Fijian dollar.
While motor spirit and premix prices were expected to decrease, the drop in refined fuel costs was offset by higher international freight charges. Conversely, prices for kerosene and diesel fell due to favourable movements in refined fuel prices, despite the same rise in freight costs.
The depreciation of the US dollar further contributed to the downward adjustments for these products.
In addition to fuel, FCCC confirmed that all LPG product prices have dropped.
This is primarily due to a reduction in the Butane Contract Price—from USD 605 to USD 590—and slight changes in the freight rate and foreign exchange movements. FCCC highlighted that Fiji, being a price taker in the global market, is directly affected by pricing decisions made by Saudi Aramco, which sets the benchmark contract prices monthly.
The Commission added that global factors such as weaker demand from European refiners, easing geopolitical tensions, increased US petroleum inventories, and improving physical fundamentals all influenced the drop in international crude and LPG prices during May, which are now reflected in Fiji’s domestic rates for July.
As part of its enforcement efforts, FCCC officers are currently conducting inspections at fuel stations and LPG outlets across the country to ensure compliance with the newly authorised maximum prices.
