G15 Strongly Behind Seruiratu Says Bala
FIJI NEWS

Opposition MP Hon. Parveen Bala has slammed on Deputy Prime Minister and National Federation Party (NFP) leader Professor Biman Prasad, accusing him of attempting to deflect from growing instability within the coalition government.
Bala described Prasad’s recent remarks against Opposition Leader Hon. Inia Seruiratu as "desperate ranting" and an effort to misrepresent the opposition’s stance on the Constitution Amendment Bill 2025.
"His insistence that the coalition is 'all in together' is laughable when it is evident that NFP and SODELPA are being sidelined in key discussions," Bala said.
He further criticized Prasad for what he called misleading references to the bipartisan constitutional amendment process of 1994 under then-Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka and the late Justice Jai Ram Reddy.
"This government has shown no such integrity or commitment to fair negotiations," Bala added.
He reiterated that the opposition remains committed to ensuring that any constitutional changes follow due process with transparency, accountability, and bipartisan dialogue.
"The opposition will continue to stand firm in upholding democratic processes and ensuring that the iTaukei, as traditional custodians of the land, remain central in national policies and development," Bala said.
Bala affirmed that the G15 opposition group fully supports Seruiratu’s leadership, vowing to hold the government accountable on key national issues.
