The Ministry of Agriculture and Waterways has launched the 2025–2026 Small Holder Goat Shed Assistance programme to help small and medium-scale goat farmers improve their facilities and grow their businesses.

Through the initiative, farmers will receive materials valued at $9,000 to build a small-scale goat shed, with the government covering two-thirds of the cost and the farmer contributing the remaining one-third.

The programme is open to farmers with secure leased land of at least 10 acres for grazing, between 50 and 70 goats, and a minimum of three years’ goat farming experience.

Farmers on communal land must provide written consent from the Yavusa, Mataqali or Tokatoka, endorsed by the Roko Tui.

Applications can be made online through the Ministry’s application portal, and officials say the assistance will help improve livestock management, enhance productivity, and support the long-term growth of Fiji’s goat farming sector.
