Government Supports Rarawai Mosque Renovation with $14,287 Assistance

The Rarawai Mosque in Ba is undergoing renovation following Government assistance aimed at improving the safety, hygiene and overall facilities available to students and members of the surrounding community.

The Ministry of Multi-Ethnic Affairs provided building materials valued at $14,287 towards the project.

The renovation includes the installation of new tiles and improvements to the worship facility, which is regularly used by students from the nearby Rarawai Muslim School.

President of the Rarawai Fiji Muslim League, Moidin Koya, said the improvements were particularly important because of the large number of students using the mosque.

“The worship centre is always crowded because students from Rarawai Muslim School come and use the space. Hygiene is very important, especially when students are using the facility,” Koya said.

Koya, who has served in the organisation’s leadership for 20 years, said this was the first time the Rarawai Fiji Muslim League had received such assistance.

He thanked the Government for its support and for recognising the importance of improving community and religious facilities.

The renovation works are nearing completion and are expected to provide a cleaner, safer and more suitable environment for worshippers, students and community members.

The assistance reflects Government’s ongoing efforts to support communities and improve facilities that contribute to the wellbeing of Fijians.
