Grace Road Considering an International Standard Hospital Investment

Grace Road Group President Mr Daniel Kim says the Group would consider expanding into Fiji’s healthcare sector by developing a hospital that meets international standards.

Speaking to Duavata News, Mr Kim was asked whether, following the Group’s experience operating a dental clinic in Fiji, Grace Road would consider expanding into broader healthcare services.

“It is certainly something we would consider,” Mr Kim said.

He said that while there are currently no formal plans or proposal to establish a hospital, healthcare is an area where the Group could potentially make a meaningful contribution to Fiji in the future.

“If we were to build a hospital, it would have to be to international standards. We would want to provide the high level of quality, technology and patient care,” Mr Kim said.

He said such a facility could enable Fijians to access specialised surgeries and medical procedures locally, including treatments that currently require patients to travel to countries such as Australia.

“There are Fijians who have to travel overseas for specialised surgeries and medical treatment. It would be meaningful if, one day, those services could be provided here in Fiji at a high international standard,” he said.

Mr Kim said any potential investment in healthcare would follow the same philosophy that has guided the Group’s other developments—delivering high-quality services while contributing to Fiji’s long-term development.

“We have always believed in making long-term investments that improve people’s quality of life. Healthcare is one area where that impact can be truly life-changing,” he said.

He emphasised that the hospital concept remains an idea for the future and that any development would require extensive planning, feasibility assessments, regulatory approvals and engagement with the relevant authorities.

“We are always looking at ways we can contribute more to Fiji. If the opportunity is right, healthcare is certainly one area we would be honoured to explore,” Mr Kim said.

Grace Road Group has invested across a number of sectors in Fiji and has made significant contributions towards strengthening the country’s food and energy security.

Through its agricultural, food production and processing operations, the Group has worked to increase local production and reduce Fiji’s reliance on imported food.

The Group has also continued investing in renewable energy, including solar power systems across its facilities, as part of its long-term effort to reduce reliance on conventional energy sources and contribute to a cleaner and more secure energy future for Fiji.
