Grace Road Group Goes Solar
FIJI NEWSTOP STORIES

Grace Road Group is expanding its transition to renewable energy, with solar power now supplying many of its major operations as part of a long-term strategy to strengthen energy security and reduce reliance on conventional power sources.
The company says the investment, planned years before recent global fuel price volatility, is helping maintain stable operations despite increasing fuel, transportation and operating costs affecting businesses worldwide.
Grace Road Group President Daniel Kim said the company's renewable energy programme was driven by the need to prepare for future challenges rather than simply respond to them.
"For the past few months, businesses across the world have been facing the same challenges caused by the fuel crisis. We have felt those pressures too, but years of planning and investment in renewable energy have helped place us in a stronger position to manage those challenges," Mr Kim said.
Solar energy now powers Grace Road Group facilities from the Western Division through to Navua, significantly reducing dependence on traditional energy sources while improving operational reliability.
The company is also preparing to expand its renewable energy programme further, with additional solar installations planned across its Suva operations.
Mr Kim said the investment reflects the importance of long-term planning and innovation in an increasingly unpredictable global environment.
"When businesses invest in energy security and efficiency, they are better positioned to protect their operations and continue serving their communities during difficult times," he said.
He added that while businesses cannot influence international fuel prices, they can control how they prepare for future uncertainty.
"We cannot control international fuel markets, but we can control how we prepare for them. This experience has demonstrated the value of investing in renewable energy and innovation so that businesses are better equipped to navigate uncertainty."
Grace Road Group says it remains committed to expanding sustainable business practices, with renewable energy forming a key part of its long-term strategy to support reliable operations while contributing to Fiji's transition towards cleaner sources of energy.
