The Coalition Government has significantly improved healthcare services in Kadavu, with major upgrades at Vunisea Hospital and other health facilities.

Acting Senior Medical Officer Dr. Krishan Prasad highlighted the enhancements, including the renovation of the hospital’s flooring to address safety concerns, the near completion of a mortuary that had been non-operational for four years, and the replacement of the operating theatre’s roof to prevent water leaks during surgeries, enabling 76 operations in five days.

Additionally, two 10,000-litre water tanks have been installed to ensure a steady water supply.

Upgrades at the Daviqele Health Centre include improved facilities, renovated doctors’ quarters, and new water tanks, while plans to develop the Soso Nursing Station into a health Centre are underway, alongside ongoing repairs at Naulotu nursing quarters.

These developments are reducing the need for patients to travel to Suva for medical care, with more cases now managed locally, demonstrating the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and infrastructure in rural Fiji.
