Heavy Drug Sentences for Kingpins

The High Court in Lautoka has delivered Fiji’s heaviest ever sentences for drug trafficking, following the country’s largest methamphetamine seizure worth an estimated FJ$2 billion.
Nine people were convicted for their roles in the trafficking of 4.15 tonnes of methamphetamine. Justice Aruna Aluthge said the sentences must reflect the seriousness of the crime and act as a strong deterrent against those seeking to profit from the drug trade.

Justin Ho – Life imprisonment, non-parole period of 30 years
David Heritage – 55 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 25 years
Jale Aukerea – 50 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 25 years
Louie Logaivau – 25 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 18 years
Sakiusa Tuva – 25 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 18 years
Aporosa Davelevu – 14 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 12 years
Osea Levula – 17 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 13 years
Cathy Tuirabe – 15 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 12 years
Viliame Colowaliku – 15 years imprisonment, non-parole period of 12 years
In sentencing, the Court highlighted the devastating impact of methamphetamine on Fijian communities.
