Heavy Rain Alert and Flash Flood Warnings Issued for Viti Levu and Maritime Areas
FIJI NEWS

Nadi Weather Office has issued a heavy rain alert and flash flood warnings for Viti Levu and surrounding maritime areas, including the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, Kadavu, and smaller islands such as Moala and the Southern Lau Group.
Residents in these regions are urged to remain vigilant as two low-pressure systems are expected to impact the country this week.
The first trough of low pressure is currently affecting Fiji, bringing localized heavy rain to the eastern parts of the nation.
As conditions develop, a second trough with associated clouds and rainfall is anticipated to approach from the west, further contributing to the adverse weather.
Authorities caution that localized heavy rain could lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying areas and vulnerable communities.
Expect disruptions to traffic flow, with potential flooding of minor roads, Irish crossings, and bridges.
Visibility may be severely reduced, increasing the risk of motor vehicle accidents due to slippery road conditions.
Residents are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions as the situation evolves.
Continued updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
