The National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) has issued urgent warnings for the people of Viti Levu, the Northern Division, and the Yasawa and Mamanuca islands to stay clear of flooded rivers, streams, drains, roads, and walkways where water levels exceed knee height.

This advisory follows a confirmation from the weather office in Nadi that a heavy rain alert remains in effect for Viti Levu, Yasawa, Mamanuca, Kadavu, and nearby smaller islands, including the Moala and Southern Lau groups.

The NDMO stressed the importance of this warning for public safety, aiming to reduce life-threatening risks not only for residents but also for first responders.

A strong wind alert is also active for land areas of Vatulele, Beqa, Kadavu, and nearby islands, prompting residents in these coastal regions to avoid recreational marine activities.

Debris may wash ashore, creating additional hazards.

With continuous rain reported over recent days, there is a heightened risk of landslides in certain areas.

The NDMO urges all Fijians to prepare their households and keep a close watch on their children throughout the weekend.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about the warnings and familiarize themselves with safety measures.
