Heavy rain warning in force as Cyclone Vaianu moves closer
FIJI NEWS

A heavy rain warning remains in force for the entire Fiji group as Category 3 Tropical Cyclone Vaianu continues to move southeast towards the country.
At 3:00am today, the cyclone was located about 380km west of Yasawa-i-Rara and 380km west-northwest of Nadi, and is expected to move closer over the next 24 hours.
The Fiji Meteorological Service says the system is likely to bring periods of heavy rain and possible thunderstorms across the country, with moderate to high confidence in the forecast.
Authorities are warning of flash flooding in low-lying and flood-prone areas, as well as flooding at Irish crossings, which may disrupt traffic.
Urban areas with poor drainage are also expected to experience surface flooding, while drivers are being urged to take caution due to wet roads and reduced visibility.
Recent rainfall figures show significant accumulation, with 86mm recorded in Viwa and 64mm in Monasavu over the past 24 hours.
Fijians are urged to remain alert, take necessary precautions, and follow official weather updates.
