The High-Level Persons Group (HLPG) has commenced its High-Level Political Talanoa with the Fijian Government as part of Phase Three of the ongoing Review of the Regional Architecture.
The HLPG met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Strategic Planning, National Development and Statistics, Hon. Biman Prasad, along with Permanent Secretaries from across various government ministries.
The discussions centred on the evolving strategic landscape of the Pacific region, with a focus on identifying collective opportunities and addressing long-standing systemic challenges within the current regional framework.
According to a statement, the dialogues reaffirmed a shared ambition to deepen Pacific regionalism, including efforts to strengthen governance structures that are responsive, transparent, and rooted in Pacific leadership.
The proposed reforms aim to ensure the regional governance architecture is fit-for-purpose—driven by the priorities of member states and accountable to the people of the Blue Pacific Continent.
The HLPG is expected to meet with Prime Minister Hon. Sitiveni Rabuka in the coming weeks as consultations continue.
