Opposition Member of Parliament Hon. Alvick Maharaj has extended his congratulations to Honourable Filipe Tuisawau on his appointment as Acting Prime Minister during the absence of Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka.

In a statement sent to Duavata News, MP Maharaj acknowledged the significance of the role and expressed confidence in Hon. Tuisawau’s ability to carry out the duties of the Prime Minister with integrity and resolve.

“It’s great to hear that Honourable Filipe Tuisawau is serving as Acting Prime Minister while PM Rabuka is away. Congratulations to him — well deserved. This is a crucial role, and he certainly will do justice,” said Maharaj.

Referring to recent developments from the Commission of Inquiry, which cited internal challenges and identified “crocodiles in the pond,” Maharaj emphasised the importance of the Acting Prime Minister’s role in maintaining stability and loyalty within government ranks.

“With the recent revelations from the Commission of Inquiry identifying ‘crocodiles in the pond,’ there’s a clear mandate for the Acting PM to safeguard the Prime Minister’s position and seat from these crocodiles. We wish him all the best in this vital task,” he added.
