Hon. Lynda Tabuya, Member of Parliament and Former Minister for Women, Children and Social Protection, has once again become the target of malicious online attacks — this time through the resurfacing of a digitally manipulated fake newspaper headline on social media.

The image, which brings back an old edition of the front page of the Fiji Sun, falsely claims that Tabuya called for an investigation into Finance Minister Biman Prasad for alleged abuse of office linked to government vehicle purchases. The headline was not published recently — it originally circulated last year and was immediately denounced by Tabuya at the time as fake news. Trolls have now revived the image in what appears to be a renewed attempt to stir political controversy within the coalition government.

This incident is part of a broader pattern of coordinated online harassment targeting Tabuya — including doctored images, personal attacks, and misogynistic abuse. It reflects a wider trend of using social media to target and undermine high-profile women in politics.

In a further troubling development, Duavata News has received anonymous screenshots from a group chat allegedly involving members of the proposed Fijians First Party. The messages reportedly contain degrading and sexually explicit jokes about Hon. Tabuya and other public figures. One of the individuals involved is believed to be a current Member of Parliament.
