A planned strike by over 60 hospital porters at the University Hospital Southampton (UHS) has been suspended for the second time to allow further negotiations.

The workers had planned to walk out, after accusing supervisors of enforcing unreasonable toilet break regulations, such as requiring permission to use the restroom and asking for additional time during menstruation.

The strike, initially set for Friday and Monday, December 9, has been postponed while negotiations continue to settle the dispute.

However, the United Union has warned that more strikes on Fridays and Mondays in January will go ahead if a satisfactory solution is not reached.

Joe Teape, the Chief Operating Officer at UHS, has stated that his willing to cooperate with the portering representatives to address the problem.
