One of Nadi's best-known nightlife venues, Ice Bar, will close its doors after 17 years in business, marking the end of an era for the Martintar entertainment scene.

The announcement was made by owner Roneel Sami, who shared an emotional farewell message thanking staff, customers, suppliers, business partners and the wider community for supporting the business throughout its journey.

"It’s time to say goodbye to Ice Bar," Sami said, describing the decision as one that was "not easy" after nearly two decades of operation.

Established in 2008, Ice Bar became one of Nadi's most recognisable nightlife destinations, attracting both local patrons and international visitors.

Over the years, the venue evolved from a nightclub into a broader hospitality and entertainment business, surviving major challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic.

In 2021, following the pandemic shutdowns, the business underwent a significant transformation with an $80,000 investment that saw the venue re-open as Ice Bar & Grill, creating jobs and expanding its offerings to include restaurant and family-friendly services.

At the time, management described the move as an opportunity to reinvent the business and adapt to changing market conditions.

In his farewell message, Sami paid tribute to both past and present staff members, thanking them for their loyalty, hard work and dedication over the years.

"Your commitment helped build this business into something we were truly proud of," he said.

He also thanked customers who had supported the venue throughout its 17-year history, saying every visit, recommendation and conversation had contributed to the business's success.

Sami extended his appreciation to suppliers, business partners and even competitors, noting that competition had helped push the business to improve and strive for excellence.

"Most importantly, thank you to everyone who ever walked through our doors. You became part of our story, and we will always be grateful for the friendships, relationships, and memories created along the way," he said.
