India has confirmed launching precision strikes on nine locations across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK), targeting what it described as terrorist infrastructure used to plan and direct attacks on Indian soil.

The Indian Armed Forces released a statement early Wednesday confirming the launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’, a coordinated military action aimed at neutralising key terror-linked sites across the border.

“The Indian Armed Forces launched ‘OPERATION SINDOOR’, hitting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from where terrorist attacks against India have been planned and directed,” the statement read.

According to Indian officials, a total of nine targets were hit. The military emphasised that the strikes were “focused, measured, and non-escalatory”, with no Pakistani military installations targeted in the operation.

India also said that the operation demonstrated “considerable restraint” in both the choice of targets and the methods used to execute the strikes.

A Pakistan military spokesman said the country will respond to the attacks.
