The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kadmatt, an Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, arrived in Suva this week on a goodwill visit — a strong sign of the close ties between Fiji and India.
Acting Prime Minister Professor Biman Prasad welcomed the visit, saying it showed the deep friendship between the two nations.
“This visit is more than just a ceremonial event,” Professor Prasad said. “It is a celebration of friendship, trust, and an enduring partnership. Fiji remains committed to working with India to advance peace, maritime security, and sustainable development across the Indo-Pacific region.”
During the visit, Fiji and Indian Navy officials will hold talks on maritime cooperation and capacity building. The ship’s crew will also take part in community activities, including:
- A free public health screening with local partners at Albert Park
- Sports events such as cricket and volleyball matches to bring people together
The visit highlights Fiji’s growing cooperation with India, not only in security but also in health, sports, and community engagement.
