Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has expressed deep sorrow following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which killed 26 people.
In a statement on Tuesday, Netanyahu described the attack as “barbaric” and conveyed his condolences to the victims and their families. “Israel stands with India in its fight against terrorism,” he said.
The attack, which Indian authorities say is one of the deadliest against civilians in recent years, was reportedly carried out by a little-known group called the "Kashmir Resistance." The group claimed responsibility via social media, citing dissatisfaction over demographic changes in the region.
Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar also condemned the attack, stating on X, “Our thoughts are with the victims and their families. Israel stands united with India in the fight against terror.” The Indian Embassy in Israel responded by thanking Israel for its solidarity.
Other international leaders, including former U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Vice President JD Vance, also denounced the attack. Trump called the incident “deeply disturbing” and reaffirmed Washington’s support for India. Meanwhile, Vice President Vance, who is currently visiting India, expressed heartfelt condolences, noting the beauty and resilience of the Indian people.
The American Jewish Committee’s Asia Pacific Institute joined in mourning, expressing solidarity with India and the victims' families.
