Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has separately spoken with both US President-elect Donald Trump and current President Joe Biden to express his gratitude for their assistance in securing a ceasefire and hostage release agreement, according to his office.
A statement from Netanyahu’s office mentions that the Prime Minister thanked Trump for his help in facilitating the release of hostages and ending the suffering of the hostages and their families.
Netanyahu also thanked Biden for his recent remarks, in which he stated that Gaza will "NEVER again become a terrorist safe haven."
The two leaders agreed to meet in Washington in the near future.
In his conversation with Biden, Netanyahu also expressed appreciation for the US president’s support in advancing the hostage deal.
This announcement marks Netanyahu’s first public acknowledgment that Israel has agreed to a ceasefire-hostage release deal brokered by the US and Qatar, which is set to take effect on Sunday.
