In a strong show of unity against the rising threat of illicit drugs in Fiji, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Fiji Police Force in its ongoing fight against drug trafficking.

This pledge was formalized during a high-level meeting on Friday at RFMF Headquarters between RFMF Commander Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai and Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu.

Acknowledging the urgent need to tackle drug-related crimes, both leaders engaged in strategic discussions to enhance enforcement efforts.

A key outcome of the meeting was the establishment of a joint operations capability, focusing on identifying, disrupting, and dismantling drug networks in high-risk areas across the country.

Major General Kalouniwai emphasized the RFMF’s steadfast support in upholding national security and public safety, highlighting the military’s readiness to work closely with law enforcement to combat the drug crisis.

Commissioner Tudravu welcomed this strengthened partnership, stressing the importance of inter-agency collaboration in tackling the illicit drug trade that threatens Fijian society.

The formation of a new joint task force marks a significant step in launching targeted operations aimed at eradicating drug-infested areas.

Both leaders remain united in their mission to safeguard Fijian communities and ensure a safer, more secure future for the nation.
