Juan Soto Joins Mets on Record-Breaking $765 Million Deal as MLB Free Agency Heats Up
SPORTS

Juan Soto, one of the most anticipated free agents of the MLB offseason, has agreed to a record-breaking 15-year, $765 million deal with the New York Mets, marking the largest known contract in sports history.
This surpasses Shohei Ohtani's previous record of $700 million. Soto's deal, unlike Ohtani's, does not include deferred money and features escalators that could push the total to $800 million.
Alongside Soto's deal, several other significant moves have occurred, including the Dodgers securing Blake Snell for five years at $182 million, and the A's signing Luis Severino to a three-year, $67 million contract.
Meanwhile, Japanese pitcher Roki Sasaki has been posted, opening a 45-day window for MLB teams to negotiate a contract, with a signing deadline of January 23, 2025.
As the winter meetings continue, other free-agent signings and trades are expected to unfold.
