Kamala Harris Certifies Trump's Election Victory Four Years After Capitol Riot
WORLD

Four years after the January 6th insurrection, Vice President Kamala Harris presided over the certification of Donald Trump's election win.
The event took place under heavy security, marking a stark contrast to the chaos of 2021.
Harris, who lost to Trump in the 2024 election, announced the results with a composed demeanor, as Congress confirmed Trump's victory without any challenges.
Despite a winter snowstorm blanketing Washington, lawmakers fulfilled their constitutional duty.
The House floor was packed with lawmakers for the count, the final step in validating the Electoral College results.
Republicans cheered as Harris announced Trump's 312 electoral votes, while Democrats did the same for her 226 votes.
Unlike in 2021, there were no objections to the results.
Harris conceded to Trump the day after Election Day, and no Democrats challenged the outcome.
Former Vice President Mike Pence praised Harris for overseeing the return to tradition and commended the members of the House, Senate, and Harris for doing their duty under the Constitution.
President Biden emphasized the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and urged the country to never forget what happened in 2021.
Harris echoed this sentiment, calling a smooth certification and transition the "most important pillars of our democracy."
