Kenya’s High Commissioner Presents Credentials to President Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu

The non-resident High Commissioner of the Republic of Kenya to Fiji, His Excellency Dr. Wilson Kipge’tich Kogo, formally presented his Letters of Credence to the President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, during a ceremony at State House.

President Lalabalavu congratulated Dr. Kogo on his appointment and extended best wishes on behalf of the Fijian Government and people. In their meeting, the President reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to addressing global challenges, particularly those affecting Small Island Developing States (SIDS), and emphasized the urgency of climate action, multilateral cooperation through the United Nations, and the importance of parliamentary diplomacy.

Dr. Kogo acknowledged Fiji’s global leadership on climate issues and expressed Kenya’s interest in strengthening bilateral ties with Fiji in key areas such as tourism, agriculture, blue economy, cultural diplomacy, and maritime biodiversity. He reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to enhancing South-South cooperation and building climate resilience.

Currently based in Canberra, Australia, Dr. Kogo also serves as Kenya’s High Commissioner to Australia, New Zealand, and Pacific Island Countries. His career includes service in Kenya’s National Assembly, membership in the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms, and leadership roles in Kenya’s education sector.

Dr. Kogo inspected a 30-member Guard of Honour from the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, led by Second Lieutenant Eleni Mocelutu. He was accompanied by Captain Maikali Beranaqe, his temporary Aide-de-Camp.
