Ketan Lal Owes No Charity or Apology for Receiving $95,000 in Taxpayer Dollars – Says Zorhab
FIJI NEWS

Supporters of Ketan Lal have launched attacks on social media against Duavata News, defending the minority MP who last year refused to vote against the controversial increase in the salaries of Members of Parliament.
Abdul Zorhab, a vocal supporter, stated: "Ketan Lal has done nothing wrong. Ketan Lal owes no apology. He owes no charity stunt to please bitter ex-supporters turned cyber-activists. Instead of hounding hardworking MPS, why doesn’t Duavata News investigate the real crooks in government? Why don’t they call out the ministers who gave themselves a 100% pay hike while ordinary Fijians can’t afford milk and bread? But no — their only goal is to drive a wedge between FijiFirst’s past and future, between Khaiyum and Ketan."
"Their obsession with Ketan shows exactly what they’ve become: a biased, cowardly, low-budget propaganda machine being run by faceless keyboard warriors who hide behind 'journalism' to push a sick political agenda."
"And now they have the audacity to twist the words of Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum — the same man who gave his blood, sweat, and soul for this country for over a decade."
(Duavata News maintains that we posted every word of Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum's statement verbatim)
"Duavata News, your mask is off. You're not media — you’re a political hit job hiding behind fake “accountability," and angry Zorhab said.
Fake Facebook pages also popped up stating the same things.
Another supporter, Ratu Sailosi Sirisirivalu, also defended Lal, saying: "I disagree with the statement, Ketan Lal is one of the most fiery MPS and still loyal to both leaders till now, he speaks his mind as an MP that keeps the current government on their toes. This statement will not slow down the proposed FijiansFirst Party, as we have been working together tirelessly hand in hand to begin our registration process."
Duavata News, which maintains its neutrality as a fully registered news media company, stands by the article on Ketan Lal.
We have called out all sides repeatedly.
The outlet insists that the article was 100% factual and written specifically due to Ketan Lal's position as a sitting MP and a core member of the proposed FijiansFirst party.
The piece highlights Lal's failure to comply with the request made by Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum, a former FijiFirst member, who asked MPs to donate the increased salary to charity — a request Lal has not fulfilled.
