Kidsfirst Fiji Clarifies Bullying Allegations, Cites Official Investigation
FIJI NEWS

Kidsfirst Fiji has refuted recent social media claims of bullying at its primary school, calling them misleading and an attempt to spread misinformation.
In a statement released on March 19, 2025, Kidsfirst Fiji addressed allegations made by Ms. Shomal Kant on March 13, 2024, which have resurfaced online.
The school clarified that the claims were investigated by the Fiji Police Force, the Ministry of Education, and the Fiji Human Rights Commission, all of whom found no evidence of bullying.
“The allegations of bullying stemmed from an incident where students were disputing over Pokémon cards at school. The matter was immediately addressed by staff, and after thorough investigation, it was conclusively determined that no act of bullying took place,” Kidsfirst Fiji stated.
The findings were supported by CCTV footage, which showed no bullying, and interviews with teachers, students, and parents, confirming it was a minor disagreement between children.
Kidsfirst Fiji also criticized Ms. Kant for escalating the matter online instead of following proper school procedures. “Ms. Kant has not returned to the school to resolve the matter or acknowledge the findings of the official investigation,” the statement added.
The school has urged the public to refrain from spreading false information, as it causes distress to students, parents, and staff. “We are working with relevant authorities to address the spread of misinformation and will take legal action if necessary to protect the integrity of our school community,” Kidsfirst Fiji stated.
They have also encouraged concerned parents to engage directly with the school rather than resorting to online claims.
